Evening Class: A Vedic Game Show! @ 7:30 p.m.

*Similar to Who Wants to be a Millionaire or its Indian version, Kaun Banega Crorepati, this game show will consist of a set of questions drawn from the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita, Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagavat-Purana, and other scriptures. Prizes will include t-shirts, devotional music CDs, Krishna Lunch coupons, & books!!

Saturday-

Hatha Yoga w/ Jaya Sita dd* @ 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Bring your own mat) NEW!

Gourmet Krishna Dinner, 6-9 p.m., $8 donation (10-course vegan/vegetarian buffet!)

 

*About the speakers:

  • Kalakantha das is the president of Krishna House. A devotee since 1972, he is a humble grandfather and the author of four books on Krishna Consciousness, including the Gator’s Guide to the Gita.
  • Krishna Kripa das travels around the world chanting, dancing, and inspiring others to take up spiritual life. He is a scholar of bhakti-sastri literatures and yoga philosophy.
  • Tamohara das holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and has taught for many years as a professor. He now since retired from teaching and serves as a Governing Body Commissioner for ISKCON in Florida, West Virginia, and elsewhere. He and
    his wife have three children and two grandchildren who live in Alachua.
  • Jaya Sita dd is a resident in the Krishna House ashram and a part-time I.V.S. student. She is a certified yoga instructor in Atma Yoga and Triple A.I. She is also an accomplished cello player and currently plays with the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra.
  • H.H. Jayadvaita Swami is a sunnyasi and a disciple of Srila Prabhupada. As an editor or assistant editor for nearly all of Srila Prabhupada’s books, he is serving as the director of ISKCON’s publishing house, the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust. He has lectured extensively at colleges and universities, especially in the United States, and is our honorary guest until the end of the semester.
  • Nanda dd is a disciple of Srila Prabhupada and a former president of ISKCON Alachua. As a teacher at the Mayapur Institute for Higher Education & Training (MIHET), she is a devoted scholar of bhakti yoga philosophy.
  • Adi Karta das is a senior disciple of Srila Prabhupada. He advocates Krishna consciousness through a simple, spiritual life based on living off the land. He has been introducing UF students to Krishna for four years.
  • H.H. Hridayananda das Goswami (Dr. Howard Resnick) has practiced bhakti yoga for 40 years. With a Ph.D. from Harvard in Sanskrit & Indian Studies, he is sunnyasi, guru, an acclaimed author, and translator of ancient Vedic scripture including the Srimad Bhagavatam and the Mahabharata. He is currently a visiting professor at UF in the Religion Department.
  • Taruni dd is the owner and head chef of Gaura Nitai’s Restaurant in Cairns, Australia. Specializing in Asian preparations, we are very fortunate to have her instruction and expertise in the kitchen.
  • Sesa das is a senior devotee in ISKCON and a practicing attorney. Together with his wife and two children, he resides in Alachua where he serves as the GBC of the ISKCON Alachua temple.

 


General Temple Schedule:

Mornings & Afternoons (Monday-Friday)

6 a.m. – Morning Meditation

7:30 a.m. – Srimad Bhagavatam Class

8:30 a.m. – Krishna Breakfast

11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. – Krishna Lunch (served on campus)

2 p.m.-4 p.m. – Krishna Late Lunch (served at Krishna House)

4:30-5:30 p.m. – Hatha Yoga (Tuesdays & Thursdays only)

Evening Schedule (Monday-Friday)

6:30 p.m. – Chanting (Kirtan)

7 p.m. – Ongoing classes:

Mondays & Tuesdays – Advanced yoga philosophy

Wednesdays*- Introduction to Bhagavad-gita

Thursdays*- Mantra Meditation, Yoga Philosophy, & Vegan Dinner w/ IVS students

Fridays*- Science of Self-Realization

*FREE Krishna Dinner served!

 

Saturdays

8 a.m. Kirtan

10:30-11:30 a.m. – Hatha Yoga
